Residential Architectural Design Process:
We design homes based on how people actually live. Our architecture process starts with the Owner and their needs, not a fixed style or pre-set solution.
Each project begins with your needs and at the same time a site analysis. Together we immediately begin to integrate the architecture in to the setting.
We ask clear questions to understand daily use, and ask you to review your needs in detail including:
- Number of bedrooms and how they are used (sleeping, office, guest)
- Dining needs for daily use, social gatherings, and special events
- Kitchen layout, appliances, and number of users
- Bathroom layout and storage needs
- Natural light, views, privacy, and circulation
- Site conditions, orientation, and constraints
Residential architectural design focuses on organizing space. Some areas are open and social, while others are smaller and private. The final appearance of the home develops from the layout, materials, light, sound, and connection to the site.
Design Phases
Schematic Design / Master Plan
This phase defines the project scope. We develop multiple architectural options that meet the Owner’s program needs. Site planning, building massing, energy performance, and systems such as heating, cooling, and solar design are considered together. Phased development can be planned when long-term expansion is needed.
Construction Documents
After the schematic design is approved, we prepare detailed architectural drawings for permits and construction. Owner involvement focuses on selecting finishes, fixtures, appliances, and materials. Architectural fees are typically fixed once the scope is defined.
Construction Phase
We offer full services during construction including support and communication between Contractor and Owner through completion.
